I grew up in southern New Jersey, in a town called Mullica Hill. My early years were filled with listening to classic rock like the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and Chicago. I also took piano lessons for a few years in elementary school. I never liked practicing, so eventually that faded. Around that time, I also began to take interest in the arts, mainly writing, drawing, and illustrations.
In middle school I picked up a guitar, mainly inspired by the Dave Matthews Band. Jamming ensued. In high school, a friend let me borrow his drum set. Eventually, I had headphones on, playing along to the sweet sounds of Carter Beauford, trying to soak in every essence of every rhythm.
In college I branched out into some more experimental type of music, appreciating everything by Radiohead, Muse, and Nine Inch Nails. After plenty of weekly music sessions with friends, I began to fine tune my skills on my main instruments: guitar, drums, and piano.
Moving to Seattle in 2006, I was excited to get into the music scene. This city bleeds artiness. One can expect to see all kinds of self-expression everywhere you look. After playing a few live shows, I was back in the groove. I’ve also met artist friends who really inspired me to pursue my own artwork more.
An attempt to begin a creative writing website floated at first, then sank after a few months due to a lack of community involvement. This began the transition into me simply wanting to have a place where I could host my own material, be it music, art, writings, photography, film, etc.
I hope I’ll be able to focus on all forms of media at different times in my life. Sometimes it feels overwhelming trying to do too many things at once. But I can’t fight it. I was made this way. I’ll pursue everything I can when given the inspiration.
